Job Description:
The City of San Diego is currently recruiting for Junior, Assistant, and Associate Planners. To be considered for a classified City position such as a Junior, Assistant, or Associate Planner, you must be on the official list of qualified candidates for that position. Lists are typically opened one or two times per year for no more than a few weeks at a time and are used to fill positions throughout the year as they become available. The City of San Diego has planning positions in various departments, including City Planning, Development Services, Engineering & Capital Projects, Environmental Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Utilities, Stormwater, and Sustainability & Mobility.
The City Planning Department is currently looking to fill three Associate Planner vacancies within the Heritage Preservation, Public Engagement, and Public Spaces sections, which may be underfilled with Junior or Assistant Planners. Accepted applications may be used to fill future vacancies in other sections and departments throughout the year.
