LEADERSHIP

Our board is dedicated to providing vision and leadership that foster better planning practices, building public and political support for sound planning, and offering members the tools, services, and support necessary to advance the art and science of planning.

Awards

San Diego APA produces an annual Awards Banquet to recognize outstanding planning projects in the region. Recipients are then eligible for state and national awards. Committee members help organize the event from event planning to sponsorship to day of event.

Our Awards committee is co-chaired by two board members, but volunteers are always needed.

Committees

Each committee is co-chaired by two board members, but more members and volunteers are always needed.

Young and Emerging Planners Group

Since its beginning in 2009, the San Diego Young and Emerging Planners Group (YEP) has grown to serve as a resource for all planners with an emphasis on those that are early in their planning careers – whether that means starting your first job after college, or entering the planning profession after years of experience in another industry. YEP operates with two main programs: Networking and Social, and Mentorship.

The Networking and Social program plans welcoming, and often free events for young and emerging planners to connect and learn from others. The Mentorship program connects young and emerging planners with established planning professionals throughout the San Diego region. The YEP Committee meets monthly to discuss and plan programs and events.

Diversity Equity Inclusion

Our Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee is responsible for coordinating section activities and educating members to better serve diverse communities, as well as collaborating with the other Membership Inclusion Directors of the APA California Chapter on the annual Diversity Summit held during the APA California state conference. Our DEI committee is co-chaired by two board members, but more members and volunteers are always needed.

Programs

Our Programs committee coordinates programs such as luncheons, happy hours, professional development workshops, and member appreciation events. Our Programs committee is co-chaired by two board members, but volunteers are always needed.
